scissors & tape
HELLO! It has been a very long time since I have written on this platform—it feels so good to be back. I am so, so happy that you are here and are reading today! So far, we have had a summer full of fun, amazing events, kind people, and loving support. This is what I envisioned for The Well Wagon back in 2020, and I still can't believe that we are living that dream today!
I wanted to share a short piece of advice with you today: scissors and tape. Whether you are a business owner, a mom, a college student—ANYONE can benefit from always having scissors and tape on hands at all time (as silly as this may sound). There have been so many times where I would have been in trouble if I didn't have these two items. If you need a temporary fix: tape. If you need a quick separation: scissors. In my opinion, they are two items that you just simply cannot be without if are someone that likes to be prepared.
I have also seen the symbolic references of scissors and tape within my own life. If you want to fix something between a friend, mend an problem, patch up an old scar, or just partially hold yourself together for a minute, use (figuratively) tape. If you need to cut off a friendship, set boundaries for yourself, take away a part of your life that is preventing you from growing, use (figuratively) scissors.
For example, when I did The Well Wagon last year, I was working almost 4 part-time jobs at the same time. I was absolutely miserable: always tired, always behind, always rushed. I never gave myself the opportunity to stop and sit for just a second. Because of this, it prevented me from growing The Well Wagon as much as I would have wanted to last year....and it also caused me to be not the best daughter (sorry mom and dad). So, I made a vow to myself that I was not going to spread myself as thin this summer so that I could focus on taking The Well Wagon where I wanted it to go. In other words, I stepped back, looked at myself last year, grabbed my "scissors," and cut out overcommitment. Now, I'm still extremely busy, but I am much more focussed on my goals and visions for the future of The Well Wagon...and I am really enjoying my days off that I give myself!
All in all, always keep scissors and tape with you at all time. Whether it is physical or mental, I promise it will serve you well in the future. If you have an extra minute or two today—even while you are just driving your car—think about the areas in your life that you feel could use some change. Then make a plan to use your scissors and tape. AND follow through. I promise you will immediately start to feel better and in control of your life.
Please let me know if I can ever help you in any way! You've always got a friend and encourager over here at The Well Wagon. I hope that you have a wonderful rest of your day!
Until next time,
Mary Price
